On October 22nd, the final round of the 14th Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music in the vocal (Bel Canto) category took place in Chengdu, Sichuan. After intense competition in the preliminary rounds in Fujian, the national quarterfinal, semifinals and finals, Lin Zihao, a young faculty member from School of Music, FNU, advanced to the finals with the highest score in the semifinals. With a total score of 98.72, he won first place in the finals and received the Golden Bell Award, making a breakthrough for vocalists from Fujian province in the Golden Bell competition.
It is reported that the Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music is the only comprehensive music award in China, approved and established permanently by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It is jointly organized by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Chinese Musicians Association. Held every two years, the awards represent the highest level of various music disciplines in China.
